I'm a Lucky Daughter

Today my parents are driving straight through from Florida in order to be here for Molly's birth. They were going to leave Monday but there is the chance of some weather so they opted to leave today. Dad will then stay until I get home from the hospital and drive back down to Florida while my mom will stay to help until the 19th. Can a girl be any luckier?

My Own Little Houdini

History:

  • MJ has stayed in his room all night the last four nights in his 'big boy bed' which at this point is a mattress on the floor.

  • He is unable to get out of his room due to the door knob cover I have on his door.

  • We also have door knob covers on the master bath door and the basement door.

Present:

Tonight Bobby gave the kiddos a bath. As I was helping him get their pajamas on in their room, MJ went to open his bedroom door which was shut. When he went to open the door, surprisingly it opened. MJ seemed as surprised as we did and immediately shut the door and tried, successfully, again. He immediately walked in to our room, crawled in to our bed and told me "It's night night time Mommy."

Future Implications:

How do we keep him in his room and out of dangerous situations i.e. wandering the house in the middle of the night, leaving the basement door open to allow RJ to fall down the stairs etc?

Last OB Appointment....Forever???

Today I had my 38 week appointment with my OB. Being that I am scheduled for my c-section a week from tomorrow, this will officially be my last OB appointment ever. (That is unless a higher power has other plans)

Some stats from the appointment:

Total Weight Gain:.....I'm not telling....more than my other pregnancies, we'll leave it at that

Blood Pressure: 135/95

Protein in Urine: (+) which can be sign of pre-eclampsia or pregnancy-induced hypertension

Because of the blood pressure, the protein, and my swollen ankles (cankles) and face, my non-stress test scheduled for Thursday has been bumped up until tomorrow morning. There I will be monitored and have additional blood work taken to see if Molly will be delivered any earlier than the 4th. I will definitely keep everybody updated.

The picture above was taken last Friday at Olive Garden. Maybe that contributed to the swollen face????

Good News, Bad News

How's this for a Monday morning?

Good News:
  • MJ has stayed in his room all night the last two nights.
  • I have gotten two consecutive good night sleep.
  • My boss is buying me lunch today

Bad News:
  • It's approximately 28 degrees in our house this morning. (OK, 55) The thermostat is blank and the Heating and Cooling guys are on the way
  • Our smoke detector is chirping upstairs. Out of the five detectors we have upstairs I have narrowed it down to the one in the boys' room.
  • We don't have a 9-volt battery to replace
  • Hannah (the dog) is on edge with the odd occurrences happening this morning
  • I have a Non-Stress test at 11, lunch is scheduled at noon.
Update: $93 later our furnace is fixed and I'm a happy camper

Today's MJ-ism

MJ has his own version of calling me a name when he's upset. This morning's conversation went as follows:

MJ: "Go Away Mommy Poopy"

Me: "My name is not Mommy Poopy. That is not a nice thing to call people"

MJ (with his head hung down): "Sorry Mommy Poopy"

At least he said sorry...

My Life, the Comedy

I am on the verge of tears. MJ was finally excited about his new "big boy bed" and you can see what happened. It's 9:30, he is still not asleep and has no interest in sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

MJ's New Bed

MJ is thrilled with his new bed :-) Actually, he is very excited. The lack of a sufficient nap just happened to be expressed at the moment I decided to take these pics.

Cheering Up...Kind Of....

Though Bobby is working today...again, a trip to the grocery store really picked up my spirits. Hy-Vee had hamburger for $1.49/lb! I stocked up. I have been having a hard time finding it for under $2.00/lb so when I do, I try to get enough to put in the freezer. I bought six pounds and I'm tempted to go back for more. They even had their brand of shredded cheese for $1.66 each. Another commodity that we go through pretty fast that has really risen in price lately. MJ likes to go to the store for the free cookie :-)

On another note, Bobby called and has picked up MJ's bed. We will be spending this afternoon putting it together and *hopefully* spend an MJ-free night in our bed tonight!

Wrong side of the bed

From the time I got up this morning, I have been a grump. I am fully aware of this fact but felt like nothing I did could remedy the situation (I even tried a McDonald's chocolate milkshake). I am taking tomorrow off to get my hair done and enjoy a day by myself. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

New Sister, New Bedroom

As ashamed as I am to admit it, MJ has been sleeping in our bed for the last couple of months. It started out innocently enough. He would get upset in the night and me, being as pregnant as I was, craved sleep more than bed space. It has manifested into him not only waking up with us but starting the night with us as well. Knowing that I will have another child sharing our room in T-minus-2 weeks at most, I have decided that the best solution is to get MJ out of his toddler bed and in to a twin bed. My thought process is as follows: if he gets upset in the night, I send my dear husband in to comfort. If he happens to fall asleep in bed with MJ, I get our queen to myself! I rearranged the boys' room to accommodate the new bigger, bed that is coming hopefully this week. I wanted the boys to be able to see each other for comfort and leave some room for play as well. I think it turned out pretty well. I'm anxious to see how it looks with the coordinating comforters once MJ's bed makes it's appearance.

A Nice Sprinkle

My two close friends Wendy and Kim threw me a baby "sprinkle" today. There were seven girls who spent three hours chatting it up, telling stories and eating delicious cake and appetizers. Molly will be the best dressed little girl around!

Sweet Treat

This is just a thank you to the little old lady who bought MJ a package of M&M's at WalMart today for waiting so patiently in line. There are sweet people out there!

Self Portrait

MJ drew a picture of himself. He then decided to draw a picture of me. He said "Mommy, you have a big head!" Above is the picture he drew of himself. Not bad for a not-quite 3 year old.

Kid's Say the Darndest Things

MJ cracks us up on a daily basis. Here are two of the conversations:

Yesterday:

Background: RJ and MJ have sat in the two middle captain's chairs since we bought the minivan. Recently, have been trying to prepare MJ for the impending arrival of his sister. I took the liberty of moving him to the back seat of the van to make room for his sister's car seat but chose to move him prior to installing the car seat to avoid him feeling like he is being displaced. Last night I picked he and RJ up from the babysitter. We had the following heartfelt conversation:

Matthew: "Mom, I'm too far away"

Me: "Too far away from what?"

Matthew: "Too far away from RyRy"

Can we hear a collective "Awwwww!"

Today:

I receive a phone call from the boys' babysitter. MJ was playing with a game and pinched his pointer and middle fingers. He calls out to his babysitter Angie and says "Angie, I hurt the number two!"

First trip to L & D

After two pregnancies that consisted of many trips to labor and delivery I am pleased to announce that I have hit a new record. I made it to 36 4/7 weeks before my feet entered the doors. I had my doctor's appointment this morning which showed my blood pressure a little bit elevated. My doctor sent me to the hospital to be monitored and to have blood drawn. Everything looked great though my blood work did show me as anemic. Now I just need to take an iron pill once a day and I should be good to go. During the wait, I took advantage of technology and used my camera phone to document my visit.

3 Weeks..Tick*Tock Tick*Tock

Christmas Eve was 3 Weeks AGO Today...just for reference....

4th Try is the Charm

After RJ's left eardrum perforated this weekend, his ENT and I came to the conclusion that we need to give ear tubes a shot.....again. Mind you, in the five short years that RJ has been alive, this will be his fourth set of tubes. The last set are supposedly permanent T-Tubes and fell out in under a year. We are attempting that same type again because when they are in, they tend to work beautifully. When is the surgery you may ask, February 11th. Yes, one week after I have Molly if she waits until her scheduled date.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Knowing that our days of paying a babysitter for only two kiddos is limited, I decided to arrange a babysitter for the evening. All things considered, it was a pretty cheap night. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, using a gift card that Bobby got for Christmas. We then went up to the casino where we hadn't been in a year and a half. I lost about $10 and Bobby won about $11 so it was a wash. The entire evening cost us the fee of our sitter which was well worth our relaxation and sanity.

Exhausted...Can't....Type...

Sorry for the lack of posts. I am exhausted. By the time the kids go to bed I can barely (or bearly) keep my eyes open. I will try to post something with some substance soon.

Doctor's Appt. and Ultrasound

Yesterday I had my 35 week check up. The doctor said that everything looks great and any time I go in to labor, we'll go ahead and deliver this little girl. She did have me get an ultrasound today and she looked beautiful! The picture was much clearer on the screen than in the pictures but she is measuring right on target and right between the boys birth weights. Right now she is 5 lbs 13 oz with big beautiful lips. I think she' s going to be a cutie if I do say so myself!

One Month from Today!

If I go to my scheduled c-section date, I will be in the hospital with a new baby one month from today. January typically creeps by in any given year, I can only imagine this year will be especially slow. Give or take a few days, I suppose if I look at it this way, it will be more refreshing:

Days passed in pregnancy: 244

Days left in pregnancy: 31

That's 87% of the way done. Now if I could just stop over analyzing every symptom I'm having!

Yes, I know...

I am almost 35 weeks. I am huge. Plain and simple. I do think some outfits accentuate this fact more than others but I think that there is no getting around that this little girl is growing and running out of room. I am uncomfortable and tired and can't imagine there is 4 1/2 weeks left if I go to my c-section date. Completely off topic but what are the chances that I would have socks to match this shirt?

First Bargain of 2009

Tonight the in-laws were generous enough to watch the boys for Bobby and I so we could go grab a bite to eat. Afterwards, we headed to Target to get dog food and I convinced him to take a stroll down the baby aisle. Didn't find much but as I turned the corner to head to the check out, I saw the infamous red tag taunting me on this bouncer. After closer inspection I noticed that the tag states "was: $32.99/ is: $4.14"!!!! I quickly scooped it up and put it in the cart. Even Bobby couldn't argue at that price.
