Though I really do enjoy my job, today I want to quit. I dropped Molly off for the first time this morning in a downpour of rain (and tears). I know she is in very lovable and capable hands but they aren't mine. *Sniffle Sniffle*

First Impression

We have lived in our house almost four years. Though we have never had a home quite as clean as Bree Van De Kamp, we try to keep it as tidy as possible. I even spring for the occasional thorough cleaning-especially when company is expected. Today I decided to replace the "Happy Easter" sign on the front door with my summer, patriotic ornament. It was then that I discovered that though I had wiped down the interior doors on occasion I had NEVER cleaned our front door! It was covered with a layer of dirt that was incredibly thick. Yuck! Who cares what the inside of the house looks like if that is the first impression? This picture is from right before we moved in.

Molly in Iowa Part 2

We're back home after almost logging in almost 1,000 miles on the mini-van. Saturday, Molly and I left Keosauqua and made a stop in Mount Pleasant to visit my Aunt Karen. We met Steph and Shelly, two of my high school friends, for lunch and continued on to my brother's house in Cedar Rapids. My nieces and nephews had a great time with Molly as she did with them. My nephew looked very handsome and did a great job at his 1st Communion. Yesterday, Molly and I made the trek from Cedar Rapids back to Kansas City with a stop in Ankeny to visit and have lunch with my sister's family. I arrived home around 4:30 with a fever and Mastitis. Welcome home!

Molly in Iowa Part 1
Molly made her first trip to Iowa this week. Yesterday we arrived in Keosauqua and today we made a trip to Farmington to visit my Aunt Linda, Aunt Jan and several of my cousins. Molly even had her first play date with 6-week old Anderson, my cousin Beth's son. It's a beautiful 80-degree day so she also took her first stroller walk with mom and Grandma Lowe. Tomorrow we'll head to Cedar Rapids via Mount Pleasant to visit more family. Whew! What a week!

Our Lawn Boy

I am loving the warmer weather. It's great to be able to have the windows and doors open and get some fresh air in the house. MJ is loving the weather too. Every night after dinner he goes outside to run off some much needed energy. Tonight he decided that he'd better get the grass mowed before it got too dark.

I should have known

Molly has a very consistent bedtime routine. She starts the night off falling asleep in her swing between 7 & 8. When I am ready to go to bed, I take her upstairs and she sleeps in her cosleeper for the remainder of the night. I had planned to pick up new batteries for her swing today knowing the ones in it currently were fading fast. The day passed by and I didn't get to the store and by 6:00 panic set in thinking that we were going to be 'swingless' in Kansas City this evening.
Our good friend MR was a lifesaver and picked us up some as he went to get dinner for his family. I put Molly down in her Boppy pillow while I changed the batteries out. In the minute it took to do that, I turn around to find her as she is in the picture above. It's like bringing an umbrella so it doesn't rain.
Broken Egg
I put away all of my Easter decorations early this week. Many of my decorations are ceramic eggs of various sizes. MJ found one such egg hiding behind a picture frame which I had apparently forgotten to put away. I heard him carry the egg in to the dining room and then heard a fateful crash.
I asked MJ "Did the egg break?"
He said "No, mom. It didn't break. It just hatched."

Product Rave

I love my Flip Video Recorder. It takes up to an hour of good quality footage. What has amazed me since I got it is the number of clips that fit in to that hour. Once my camera is full, I order the video from their website. You can also burn them yourself but it's $20 every few months and it's formatted semi-professionally with a cover etc. I just received our second video today and it had 96 videos on it. 96!!! I am finding myself catching many more of the everyday happenings in our family. Stuff that I would not pull out my Sony Handicam for. MJ's first ride on a tricycle, Molly's first coos, RJ playing a silly game with MeMaw. I think (and hope) these mundane events will be so much more meaningful in the future for Bobby, myself and the kids.

A Real Dinner
Ouch!

Molly had her 2 month checkup today. Over the last month, she has grown two inches and gained 2 1/2 pounds! Her statistics as of today:
Weight: 12.2 lbs (75th%)
Height: 23 1/4 inches (75th%)
The appointment wrapped up with five vaccines (one oral and four injections). As always, I think they probably hurt me more than they hurt her.

Potty Superstar

Last Saturday we were expecting awful winter weather. Since we were to be snowbound I stocked up not on milk and bread but on underwear and rewards....for MJ. His pediatrician said the best way to train is to put a kid in underwear and not look back. I am happy to report that not only is MJ going through most days with no wet accidents. Today he went #2! Sorry if it's too much information but I am a proud mom! I'm hoping my days of three in diapers is long gone. He did get a present for his accomplishment. It's Click the Camera from Diego.

Sticker Shock

Today I had my first baby-less outing. I chose to spend my hour of freedom going to the dentist. Yes, the dentist. I have had sensitivity in one of my molars and decided to get it checked out. Turns out, my older fillings were not done in the best manner and now I need crowns. Three to be exact. The estimated total before insurance. $3,722.00 Are you kidding me?
