It's a person!

We had our first trimester nuchal fold test today. The nuchal fold is the fatty tissue behind the baby's neck. By measuring this, the doctor can tell with the combination of a blood test if the baby is at a higher risk of chromosomal abnormalities. We won't have the blood test back for about a week but the ultrasound looked fantastic! I can't believe how human this little one looks already! We were able to see both arms and legs and the Baby J was moving and shaking all around. The top picture is the 7 week ultrasound, the bottom is today at 12 weeks.
Update: The doctor called today to tell me that the baby's chances of down syndrome, trisomy 13 and trisomy 18 are only 1 in over 10,000.

Thumps and Bumps

I had to call my sister this morning. I felt the baby for the first time! It is amazing how early you notice things on your third.

According to a chart on BabyCenter, BabyJ is the size of a plum. Every week seems to be associated with a fruit. Leave it to me to find the best correlation to my baby to be with food.

I promise to be better

After reading another blog online I am now bound and determined to keep up with mine. I wish I had some cute belly pics or something to show but at 12 weeks I have nothing that even resembles a baby belly. To quote somebody recently "Does it bother you when people think you're just getting fat?" As a reference, here is a picture of me 3 years ago at just shy of 10 weeks with MJ.
