Hy-Vee Cereal Deal

I was going to post this even before I noticed that she had. It is such a good deal that it deserves to be duplicated. I don't know if this is strictly a KC deal or if it's regional but at least for all of you KC folks. At Hy-Vee, if you buy 6 boxes of General Mills Cereal, you automatically save $10.00 off your purchase. It look liked most cereals were $3-$3.50/box. So even if you don't have any coupons, you are essentially paying $8 for 6 boxes of cereal. I had about $2.50 in coupons so my scenario went like this:

6 boxes of GM Cereal @ $3/each = $18.00 Hy-Vee Coupon (automatic) -$10.00 Manufacturers Coupons -$2.50 =$5.50 for 6 boxes of cereal or about 90 cents/box.

BUT WAIT! It gets better. At point of purchase, the register spits out a coupon for $6.00 off of your next purchase! You can do this multiple times so stock up! Hy-Vee takes internet coupons so go to Coupons.com or Smartsource.com or even Target.com to print out the ones you need. The soonest any of my cereals expire is July of 2011. I think I'm going to get several Chex Mixes next time for holiday treats and possibly gets some for our 'Adopt a Family' and local food pantries. From here on out they would be free so why not?!

But is all that sugar good for the kids, especially their teeth. I should because I just found out that I had 2 cavities. That turned out to be some really expensive candy that I've been eating.

Being that my kids eat primarily Cheerios (with the occasional Trix or Lucky Charms thrown in there) I'm not too terribly concerned. We brush our teeth after breakfast and I figure they could be eating much worse for breakfast.
