No More Tube!

Two weeks ago I called the surgery clinic to see about taking out RJ's tube. We haven't used it for food or drink since January. They told us that they need to have our pediatrician write a note saying we're not using it any more and they would remove it in the office. Well, when I was getting him out of bed this morning, lo and behold his tube is laying next to him in bed and his stoma is completely closed. This is only the second time in seven years this has happened. The first time panic set in and we made a trip to the ER. This time we're a little more laid back. I'll call tomorrow and make sure there is nothing else we need to do but I have a good feeling we may now be tube free!

I wonder how long it will take for us to realize its not there and not be so careful when we pick him up or get him dressed:) Hope it heals quickly like they say it will. Ryan has had a big year this year. Walking, getting himself to a standing position, and now eating and drinking on his own. He is truly a miracle boy. Way to go kiddo!!!! Love you.

He must've known that it was time for it to go :) He sure has made huge progress this year as Mom said. I'm sure he'll keep up the advances!
