In RJ's backpack today were the enrollment forms for summer school. When I was a kid, the goal was to avoid having to go to summer school. It was considered remedial, extra work. In our district, summer school is the COOL thing to do. They have great activities, and fun prizes all while deepening the kids understandings of concepts they have already learned. With MJ going into kindergarten this fall, he can actually attend as well. It should be a great transition for him to get used to the school, the school day and meet some of his new classmates.

I think its a great concept. Helps kids not forget what they learned during the previous school year and allows the little ones to sample what is coming in the fall. Sounds like a good plan to me!
