Iowa State Fair..Part Two

While walking in to the fair with MJ, Molly and my brother, I started this conversation with MJ. "What would you do if you got lost here at the fair?" We went through the scenarios and what he should do. It's one of those conversations that you have with your kids but never expect them to have to actually use. Yesterday afternoon MJ got lost at the fair. Really lost. So lost that we had the stage performers announce the fact we had a missing child. Though I started calm, I was soon in frantic, hyperventilating tears. Every time during my search that I would run in to one of my family members who still hadn't found him, panic set in even more. Eventually (20-30 minutes later) someone saw me in my state of hysteria and asked if I was missing a little boy. They then sent me to the fire station where I found my baby safe and sound. He had the wherewith all to go up to an older couple and tell him he was lost. They took him to the fire station and waited with him until I got there. I ran to him as fast as I could and he looked at me and asked "Mom, why are you crying?" I kept him home with me today.

I have never been so scared in my life. 100,000 plus people and he happened upon a couple of angels. This is a parents worst nightmare and it happened so quickly I still can't wrap my mind around it.
