Easter Monday in the ER
Sunday night, Ryan started having pretty significant stomach pains. He went to bed early so we decided to see how he was in the morning. This morning, he wasn’t any better so I took him to urgent care at our pediateician’s office. They ran a CBC and collected urine each which had things out of the ordinary but nothing conclusive. They recommended we head to Children’s for an abdominal ultrasound which was convenient because we already had an ENT appointment scheduled for this afternoon. At 7:00 tonight, our pediatrician called to tell us that the x-ray didn’t give them the information they hoped so they would like us to head back downtown to the ER. So, since about 8:00 Ryan and I have been here. So far he has had more blood work, IV fluids and and x-ray. The x-ray shows some thickening is his bowel wall so now we are waiting on a CT. The CT is with contrast and there is no way this boy can chug 32oz of liquid in one hour so they inserted an NG tube to help the process. Bobby is going to come relieve me in the morning so I can go to work. I may be a teaching zombie tomorrow.
