Softball divisions can be confusing. To play in certain number division (10, 12, 14 etc) you can’t be older than that number January 1st. Therefore, Molly plays 12u since she was 12 January 1st. Next year she will play 14u. Her team is comprised of all 2009 birthdays. The letter associated is the level of play. C is the lowest level. Typically, rec teams starting to dabble in tournaments. Teams will often move to B once they’ve won a couple of C tournaments. A level is considered the most elite and as a true A-team, you must be considered as having a chance of winning many tournaments you enter. The last two years we have played 12A. Two weeks ago, we won our 12A tournament outscoring our opponents. 78-9. This last weekend we changed our entry for the tournament from 12A to 14A knowing very well we would be playing high schoolers and that we may get our behinds stomped. Our team showed up-and in a big way. We came in runner-up and beat a very solid Arkansas team in semifinals. I am so proud of this team and of Molly.
